Friday Five for July 20th

1. FEARLESS will be released on August 7th. Yay! I created a blogfest to celebrate its release. It's about one of my favorite parts writing the story: the monsters. What was your childhood monster? Click here to sign up. I can't wait to read your posts. For those of you who've asked about promo stuff for the book, I'll send you the info when I have it. Right now, it's just the cover and the blurb. Hopefully I can get the book uploaded a few days before the 7th to make sure everything is working, and I can send you the links then.

2. I haven't done any writing this week. Still no air-conditioning. I can barely think in this heat induced fugue I'm living in. I really, really hate the smell of humid air and breathing it in.

3. A big congratulations to Laura Josephsen who signed with an agent from the Bradford Literary Agency! That's awesome news. I'm so excited for her.

4. My writer's group meeting went well last Saturday. They liked the concept and the action in my submission, and offered up some good suggestions. I was worried about writing in the male POV, but no one thought there was a problem there. I know I'm harder on myself than anyone else. I'm my own worst critic at times.

5. Tonight we might go to a county fair. Let the boy see the animals and try some fair food. If there's little kid rides, he can try those too. That's all the excitement I have planned.

Have a good weekend, folks!

  1. I don't post on Tuesdays, so I'll be announcing your book on Monday August 6 instead. And yes, will take links if you have them!
    No A/C STILL?????
And wrangling small child at county fair sounds exciting enough.

    1. No AC yet. It's quite depressing. The fair was okay, but boy, are they much more expensive than they were when I was a kid!

    1. Thanks! It was okay at the fair. It was far more expensive than I remember. My husband got an elephant ear to share with our son and it was five bucks!

  4. I don't know how you are functioning, and have all of these coherent thoughts going without AC all this time! You are amazing. Tonight at the fair, eat a corn dog for me. My fav fair food of all time. Yummy goodness on a stick-awesome.

I'm going to sign up for your blog fest now. Hopefully I can get the linky to work for me. I'm usually such a spaz at doing it!

    1. Thank you! I didn't get a corn dog, but I had ice cream. Fairs are much more expensive than I remember them being.

  5. I'll have to announce the 6th, too or post on that Friday. Let me know which will work best for you. I had already given the 8th away to a guest poster, and rather give you a day to yourself. :)

No A/C? I 'd have melted already. I don't do well in heat either.

  6. That is such exciting news about your book!

Hope your air conditioning comes back on soon. It's a real bummer to be without it in this heat!

    2. Oh my gosh, you STILL don't have AC? How long has it been now???

    3. THANK YOU!!!

    4. Writing groups are the best! And we writers totally tend to be our own worst critic—you'll be fine!

    5. I saw some of the pics you posted of the fair. It looks like your son had fun! :D

    1. You're very welcome. I "woo-hoo"ed out loud for you! :) And nope, still no AC and still no idea when we can get it fixed. Next week is going to be another brutally hot one too. Blech! At least yesterday and today have been nicer. I feel human for the first time in three weeks!!

    1. The fair was okay. It's much more expensive than it was when I was a kid. Three bucks just to ride the merry-go-round, IF it had been working!
