Teaser Tuesday with Partials

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
So far this YA dystopian is amazing. Partials by Dan Wells is about a teenage girl named Kira living in a world that humans have been nearly annihilated by a virus. No baby has been born that has been born in eleven years has survived, and Kira is determined to find a cure for the virus. She believes the cure can be found in humanity's greatest enemy: the Partials. Partials look human, but they're organic weapons created to fight wars for humans. The story has yanked me in. I can't wait to see where it takes me.
Here's your teaser:
Haru glared at her. "Do you have a problem with the Defense Grid doing their job?"
"I have a problem with 'making people disappear' suddenly becoming part of their job." (page 86)

  3. Agree with Kyra, I probably wouldn't pick it up but I definitely agree with the teaser. Making people disappear is never a good defense strategy! Thanks for sharing :)

  4. Great teaser! I definitely need to move this one up my TBR stack. No one should have the power to just make people disappear.

My teaser is here if you'd like a look :)

  12. I've heard a lot of good things about this book. A friend of mine just finished it and is cursing the fact that the sequel isn't out yet. Great teaser, she sounds like a strong female lead. Thanks for sharing!

  15. I'm familiar with Dan from the 'Writing Excuses' podcast, but haven't read any of his stuff. Definitely want to, especially after your glowing comments, Christine. If you haven't listened to the cast, I'd definitely recommend it.
