Take a deep breath

Sometimes all we can do is take a deep breath and push on.

I had a bad weekend. We all have our not-so-great moments. Yet I'm trying very hard to focus on the good.
I revised my newest short story and sent it in to my writers' group to be critiqued.
I braved the crowd at the post office with a sick toddler and husband, and we processed my son's passport application without a fuss.
I received two more of our new switchplates in the mail. Doing little things around the house really helps to make it our own.
My son now sings, "Na-na-na-na-na-na-na, Batman." And he adds in his own words in place of Batman. His favorite today being milk.

Now it's Monday. Everyone take a deep breath and sing: "Na-na-na-na-na-na-na, milk!"

  2. At least you know it's gotta get better. Askyour son if it's OK if I use that Batman song and inset my own word, it just might help.

  3. I hope your Monday is starting off well! Batman singing is cute - but only for so long...heh heh. I have three boys, so I can appreciate your position. Ha!
My boys (the two youngest, which are now 7 & 8) are thick as thieves - usually. They get going together...Oy!
Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na...I'll be thinking of you today...haha.

  5. Aww! That's awesome that Brandon does the Batman song. I still prefer Batman over milk, though.

  6. Alex, those were the bits that helped me get through.

Farawayeyes, sure! He's happy to lend you the song! :)

Nadja, oh, sounds like you have your hands full! I'm having enough trouble keeping up with one.

Cleemckenzie, happy Monday to you too!

Cherie, I'll take Batman over milk too! I'm just happy he enjoys his milk. :)

  7. Things will get better.

And your son is a boy after my own heart. I used to do that too! But I would replace "Batman" with "Chickenhead." My parents even tape recorded it.

  9. Yes, exactly. Breathe and push on. Sorry you had a bad weekend. I love your son's lyrics. Very catchy.

Hopefully it was just lump in your oatmeal stuff--annoying but not life-threatening. Sometimes I chant that like a mantra--lump in my oatmeal.

  10. Sometimes I worry that with all the deep breaths I have to take - I will hyperventilate :)

Best of luck in having a better week then your weekend!

  11. aww, i'm sorry to hear about your weekend. I had a crappy monday. BUT, the good thing about having crap days is, we get a chance to start over tomorrow

  12. You should encourage that boy to end his chant with "Milkman." That would be hilarious.

Everyone has there downs and ups. I've been down lately, but that only means we have one place to go. And that place is up. Feel better soon! :)

  13. Hope things look up for you soon, and well done for focusing on the positive. I have days when I find that easier, and others where I'd rather wallow for a while. Not sure that helps, but never mind.

I can just imagine your son singing variations of "Batman" :).

  16. Jay, heh, Chickenhead! I'm trying to catch my son on video doing his song.

    Theresa, thanks!

M Pax, totally a big lump in my oatmeal. I like that saying!

Krista, me too! Yet on the good days, I'm glad I have the lung capacity for a jovial whoop! :)

Sarah, I'm sorry you had a bad day too. Here's to tomorrow being a wonderful day for all of us!

David, I'm going to teach him the Milkman chant tomorrow!

C D, I had my wallowing moment. It's a little easier to avoid them, though, with a cute kid to cheer me up.

    Tania, that's right! :)

    Alleged, thanks!

  17. That actually sounds really funny, though being a mom I understand anything can get annoying after a while!

  20. I hope things are looking better for you. Every day on my way home from work, I look off the overpass into the sky while waiting for that last light to change green, and I take a deep breath, relax out work and the work day, and I find myself smiling. Works for me.

  21. Alexia, it's still funny at the moment!

Aubrie, it won't be long until your nephew will be chatting your ear off!

    Laura, thanks!

Joshua, that's a wonderful thing to do. :)
