Mutant immune system

There's my little guy intensely concentrating on a Curious George counting game. He can count to twenty and that's his favorite number right now. He's occupied most of my week because he's sick again. I swear, I think he's going for a record for most viruses caught in one winter. I've been puked on every day for two weeks. I must have a mutant immune system, because I don't even have a sniffle. *knocks on wood* Took him to the doctor today and the prognosis: ear infection and possible chest cold. My son is very particular about his ears and has not been a happy boy these past few days. He hasn't been taking any naps and he's been waking up in the middle of the night. That's something that hasn't happened since he was an infant. So no writing time for Mama. I did manage to get the stories for today's writers' group meeting critiqued, though. At least I did something productive.

  1. Oh, I remember those days of watching TV with my sick kid (strep throat) on my lap.
    To this day, I can't watch Sleeping Beauty w/o thinking of it.

    Give your little guy a hug from me. Take care.

  3. How cute is he! Having sick kids is so hard. Hope I've recovers soon and that mom can get some needed rest. My two-year-old has been waking up at night lately, which he hasn't done since he was a baby and it is exhausting.

  5. I hope he feels better soon and that these troubles leave him with an iron-clad immune system to face our world with in the future.

  6. Your little guy is adorable! I hope he feels better soon! I got sick a lot as a kid, too... lots of colds and flus. I'm sure once he hits middle school (or even before!), he'll have a rock-solid immune system in place like I did!

  7. Christine, I remember those days well. They seem awful when you're going through them but believe me they do pass.

    I gave up writing anything! So well done to you for at least getting something out.

    Your son looks adorable, ear infections are the worst! I hope he is feeling better soon.

  9. Thank you all. The poor little guy was a weak zombie today. Didn't want to leave my lap. But we made it through with no upset tummy. First time in two weeks. Yay!

    1. I'm sorry to hear about your poor little guy. Being sick is so tough, especially at that age. You're such a good mom to spend so much time with him.

  10. Aw, I'm sorry. Poor little guy (and mom). I really hate this time of year for all the bugs going around. May is my favorite month since that's about when most of the nasty bugs go back into hiding.

  11. ah! Having sick kids is HARD. But I'm glad you're doing well. A sick mommy is worse. We've also been passing around a bug, but it seems to be calming down (hopefully).

  12. At least you're still healthy, but I don't know if that matters at 2 in the morning when you're up with a miserable little man.

  15. Thank you everyone. My son is a little better today. He even got up and played with his Sesame Street Little People and crashed their bus. That's a good sign!

  16. Poor little doll-baby! He's adorable, Christine. Sure hope little man shakes off the sickness...it seems a bad year for illness. I'm still going with my theory that it is too warm to kill off the viruses. See....frigid air IS good for something...ha.
    Seriously... get well wishes :}

    1. I'm wondering where winter is! I would have taken him outside into the cold if it was cold enough. Thank you for the well wishes. He's doing better today. :)
