The final stop for geeks and meet the villain plus Nick's cover reveal

Geek girl problem #893: It's the last day of the Geeky Dice & Debauchery Tour and you can't get enough geeky posts.

What a tour!
Three months of incredible fun. Thank you so much to all my wonderful hosts and to the readers that have been following me. You guys make it all worthwhile.

My final stop is at the steamy Decadent Kane's blog. I love her erotic elf series! I'll be talking about some of the things I learned during this tour about marketing erotica.

Update: Due to health issues, Decadent Kane will not be hosting me today. But if you would, please go to her blog and send good thoughts her way.

You still have time to enter the geeky giveaway below!

Prepare to meet the big, bad villain in Of Blood and Sorrow.
Be wary of her charms lest you be caught in her spider's web.

I'm excited to be part of the marvelous Nick Wilford's cover reveal!
Isn't that wonderfully creepy?!

Title: A Change of Mind and Other Stories
Author: Nick Wilford
Genre: Contemporary speculative fiction
Cover Design: Rebekah Romani
Release Date: May 25th, 2015

A Change of Mind and Other Stories consists of a novella, four short stories and one flash fiction piece. This collection puts the extremes of human behaviour under the microscope with the help of lashings of dark humour, and includes four pieces previously published in Writer’s Muse magazine.

In A Change of Mind, Reuben is an office worker so meek and mild he puts up with daily bullying from his boorish male colleagues as if it’s just a normal part of his day. But when a stranger points him in the direction of a surgeon offering a revolutionary new procedure, he can’t pass up the chance to turn his life around.

But this isn’t your average surgeon. For a start, he operates alone in a small room above a mechanic’s. And he promises to alter his patients’ personality so they can be anything they want to be...

In Marissa, a man who is determined to find evidence of his girlfriend’s infidelity ends up wondering if he should have left well alone.

The Dog God finds a chink in the armour of a man with a megalomaniacal desire to take over the world.

In The Insomniac, a man who leads an obsessively regimented lifestyle on one hour’s sleep a night finds a disruption to his routine doesn’t work for him.

Hole In One sees a dedicated golfer achieving a lifelong ambition.

The Loner ends the collection on a note of hope as two family members try to rebuild their lives after they are torn apart by jealousy.

Nick Wilford is a writer and stay-at-home dad. Once a journalist, he now makes use of those rare times when the house is quiet to explore the realms of fiction, with a little freelance editing and formatting thrown in. When not working, he can usually be found spending time with his family or cleaning something. Nick is also the editor of Overcoming Adversity: An Anthology for Andrew. You can find him hanging out on his
blog or on Goodreads or Twitter.

Friday Five for February 20, 2015

1. Most of my week was lost to several snow days in a row. I didn't get any writing done nor did I get a jump on my March tour posts. I was lucky I could remember what day it was! I know we don't have weather as bad as it is on the east coast, but I am officially done with winter. I just hope it's done with us!

2. My Geeky Dice & Debauchery Tour is still rocking. January's giveaways got the biggest number of entries I've ever had, and this month's Zombie Dice giveaway is doing darn good too. That's right! If you haven't heard yet, you can not only win a unique Christine Rains die, but the cool game of Zombie Dice as well.

3. I finished my sci-fi horror short story for the next Untethered Realms anthology on Sunday. It came out a little longer than I expected. My characters got chatty on me! It will be edited down to tighten the tension, and hopefully the end will come as a surprise.

4. My local critique group meets tomorrow. I submitted my weird little Easter story this month. I'm curious to know whether I should go lighter/sillier or darker with it. It's a strange mix of both right now. I hope the weather cooperates and I can make it to the library!

5. Don't forget Untethered Realms' monthly #SpecFicChat today starting at 12:00 p.m. EST. This month's topic: What makes #fantasy believable? Use #SpecFicChat to join the conversation any time. The chat is ongoing.

The Geeky Dice & Debauchery Tour teases you some more and Very Inspiring Blogger Award

Geek girl problem #432: All the new books you want to read come out on Tuesdays and you don't get paid until Fridays!

I'm over at the awesome Shannon Lawrence's blog today to hook you in with another excerpt.

A BIG thank you to Jeff Chapman for nominating me for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award! He's a talented speculative fiction author, and I'm so happy that recently he became a part of Untethered Realms.

The rules for accepting this award are as follows:
1. Thank the person who nominated you, and link to their blog.
2. Display the award logo.
3. Nominate at least 15 other blogs (more or less) and provide a link where they may be found.
4. Then, go to their blog, leave a comment to let them know they have been nominated, and where to find the information they need to accept (rules).
5. Mention three things that inspired you the most during the past few weeks.

Here are three things that inspired me:
1. My son's bravery. He recently had surgery on his eyes to correct an eye turn. A scary thing for a small child. Scary for anyone to have an operation on their eyes! But he didn't complain, whine, or cry. He was sweet, well-mannered, and incredibly brave even after two and a half hours of waiting at the surgery center before he was taken into the OR. What an amazing and wonderful person he's grown to be.
2. Heather Von St. James and her victory over asbestos cancer. Read my blog post here.
3. The tree in my front yard has little buds on it. I feel that excitement every year when I see it budding and know that it will soon be in full flower. It's a Cleveland Pear, and when the flowers are in full blossom, it's so pretty. My next novel will be set in early spring so I can have a tree just like it in it.

I'm not going to nominate anyone in particular. Every one of you is an inspiration. Do not doubt it.

Zombie Dice. You know you want them!

Friday Five for February 6, 2015

1. Today my number one concern is my son. He's having surgery to correct an eye turn. It's a simple surgery which takes 20 minutes. He doesn't need to stay overnight or even have a bandage over his eye. It's a routine operation, and his doctor is very good at his job. Still, I'm freaking out a little. It's surgery on an eye! Think good thoughts for my little guy. With any luck, we'll be having ice cream before the afternoon is out.

2. I've been busy with touring, but I've also been doing some work. Last month, I rewrote a short story and resubmitted it to the editors who were interested in it. It was rejected, and so I submitted it to another venue. I also wrote a silly Easter story for my local critique group. I'm starting off the year good for short pieces this year.

3. I finished the last revisions for my urban fantasy novel, Of Blood and Sorrow. It's currently being proofread and formatted. I'll be releasing it to the world on March 13th. Yay! You can add it to read on Goodreads. I'll be doing a character themed tour as the book has a large cast of characters. There are a few slots left open if you would like to host me the last few weeks of March. Please email me or leave a comment below if you're interested.

4. I'm working on a short story for the next Untethered Realms anthology. I'm playing around with sci-fi horror this time. Once I finish it, I'll be diving into my next paranormal romance novel. The characters have been nagging at me for months now. It's been a while since I started a big new project and I'm really excited about it.

5. My Geeky Dice & Debauchery Tour will continue next week. Don't forget to enter to win Zombie Dice and my unique Christine Rains die. Good luck and have a great weekend!
