Friday Five for June 27, 2014

1. I still haven't managed to catch up on my online stuff since I've gotten back from visiting family. Why doesn't one week away mean at least two weeks of work? So please forgive me that I haven't been visiting many blogs. I'm losing time during the days since my son isn't in school. I'll get back into the swing of things soon. *knocks on wood*

2. I've been working hard on revisions for my publisher. And sorry, I still can't say anything until the contract is official. When will that be? I'm not sure. Very soon, I hope.

3. I've won a few prizes on giveaways recently. I can't believe more people don't enter them. How can you not love free stuff? Gift cards and books are my favorite prizes. I always read and review the books I win too. A win for me and a win for the author. I'm curious, how many of you always enter giveaways when you come across them? Sometimes enter them? Rarely?

4. I can't believe it's the end of June already. The summer is going by quickly. Family visit done and Fourth of July fun coming up next week. Maybe we'll go blueberry picking this weekend. My son is in the middle of his summer literacy class and doing excellently. We spent all afternoon at a park yesterday.

5. Happy Friday, everyone! Have a great weekend. :)

  1. Hope you hear something soon about that book!
I usually don't enter giveaways. Often it's because I've already purchased the book being given away.

  2. Exciting. Hope the revisions go smoothly and that you hear something (awesome) soon so you can put us out of our misery. :)

I always enter giveaways. I hate to see someones Rafflecoptor ignored :( If I don't like the book, I pass it on to someone I know will love it. If I love it I review it. I can't review something I can't finish or don't like enough to give at least a three stars. Plus, I am always way behind on my reviews so I try to at least give a rating on Goodreads until I get around to it. :)

Vouchers are great, but often only in $ when I need £. I have to watch for that.

  3. I sometimes enter giveaways, but usually if I know the author. I've got so many books I want to read, that I don't want to pile on more that I feel obligated to read.

Hope you catch up with life, and have fun with revisions!

  4. Like Loni, I enter giveaways when I know the author, but a lot of the time, I've already purchased the book.

Best of luck with the revisions.

  5. Hi Christine,

There are times I dread going online and trying to catch up. I never seem to be able to get caught up. Just like doing the dishes....

May the revisions go smoothly and try to relax, my good friend.

I don't enter giveaways but I keep winning things. I usually ask the person who is forwarding me a book, etc., to forward it onto somebody who might be having a rough time.

    I love blueberries! :)

    A good weekend to you.

  6. Can't wait to hear about your contract. I usually but not always enter contracts. I have a few books I won that I'm going to review. Winning is so fun.

  8. Thank you, folks! I wish I could tell you more now, but the contract isn't finalized. I don't want to jinx myself!

  9. Actually, today was the last day of school for the kids in Buffalo, so now summer vacation is technically official. Good Luck with your revisions for your publisher!

  10. I've been lucky to win quite a few giveaways, too. Yay! =) I tend not to enter the ones that have several hundred entries, as I figure the odds just aren't in my favor. Have fun berry picking!

  11. I am with you on the end of June, where did the month go? As for clearing my Things to do list, the delete key is my best trick for a quicker reduction :)

  13. I understand the catching up part of taking time away. But have to get those breaks in. They're important. Fingers crossed on your news and that it's very good.

  14. I also can't believe it's the end of June already. I can't believe half the year is gone!

Congrats on your prizes! And I can't wait to learn about your upcoming release once the contract is final. :)

  15. I look forward to reading more about your contracted project. 2014 is already half over? Seems like it just started a few weeks ago.

  16. If the giveaway is hosted by an author I know, I much prefer to buy the book. I sometimes browse Goodreads giveaways, when I think about it. I don't often win, I'm not a very lucky person.

Looking forward to hearing your news!

  17. When I come across a giveaway I'm interested in I'll enter, but I don't believe I've won any yet. Fingers crossed!
