Friday Five for December 11, 2015

1. It's been another great writing week. I finished one novella and started on another. Yes, it might seem like I'm writing super fast, but these stories are already finished in my head. They're not that long. If I can get 2000 words in a day, I can finish this last one before the end of next week.

2. All my regular TV shows are on hiatus. Now I can finally finish watching Daredevil on Netflix and all those films I've wanted to see on DVD. Any recommendations of a new movie I should watch?

3. My son built a gingerbread house this week. Every year for the past five years, we've done this, and every year more icing goes into his mouth than on the house!

4. I've been doing some cleaning on my Twitter account lately. If you have an account, how often do you update the profile and unfollow tweeps who are inactive, spamming, or aren't following you?

5. The cats have settled in and learned my schedule. Since sitting on the keyboard or my lap isn't an option while I'm writing, one shelf on my desk has become the cat corner. I had to empty most of the stuff out of there except the secret candy stash box (which is empty) and the sonic screwdriver (even kitties dream of meeting the Doctor). We're all cozy and happy. We'll see what the cats think when we get a Christmas tree! Have a wonderful weekend.

  1. Hi Christine - gosh well done with the writing. Gingerbread houses - are just delicious and need to be eaten! How great you and the kitties are accommodating each other .. ah - the tree will be an interesting addition ... with their needles, and the baubles and beads! Happy days ahead - Hilary

  2. Good idea about catching up on some new shows/movies while our regular show go on hiatus. I'll have to think about what to watch....

And more icing in the mouth than on the roof? That would so be me. :)

  3. Great job on the writing. I can't wait to read your new stories when they're out. =)

  4. Hey Christine,

Excellent news that you've had another great writing week. It seems you've found a happy balance.

Before you know, the cats will take over your writing :)

  5. Congratulations on a great writing week! As for Netflix, I don't see many movies on there. Mostly TV shows. I've been thinking about dropping my membership, since I don't really like the TV shows they have on there...it's all gotten a little stale. But every time I drop it, my husband decides he wants to watch something on there and says, "We don't have a membership anymore?" It could be eight months since the last time he's watched Netflix and the day I cancel it, he'll decide he wants to watch it again!

  6. Awesome that you had a great writing week. I am hoping this week will be a good one for writing, last week was crazy busy. I think if I built a gingerbread house that I would eat a lot of frosting too!

As for twitter- I don't have an exact schedule- but I would say I try to organize every few months.

    Happy weekend!

  7. Hi Christine!

Great news on the writing front. And great that you have time to refill the well now.

  8. I haven't written a word since the beginning of November, so I'm impressed!

I cleaned up twitter a little bit. I got tired of all the porn links I was getting. My "you follow me and I'll follow you back" policy may need to be rethought.

  9. Cheers to even more novella action. You are on fire. I've been slacking for the holidays, so I'm envious.

Also, we suck at Twitter. We only use it occasionally, we never clean it up... at this point it's just kinda there.

  10. There's a big arched window in my office, and we finally put a perch, plus shelves leading up to it, for my adult cat. The kitten is a new problem, though, so we need to figure out how to keep her off my keyboard. She's a fast little cuss. Congrats on your progress!

  12. I always wanted to make a gingerbread house growing up, but my family didn't have that kind of money. Someday I'd love to make my own, even if I no longer celebrate Christmas.

  13. 1. That's neat that you finished writing a novella. It always feels good when you complete something, especially a larger project (as opposed to a short story). I need to start attempting to write a novella again; larger works, especially novels lately have been tending to sell more than short fiction collections (which are what I mostly write).

    4. I don't get on Twitter as much as I do FB, but normally I haven't felt a need to unfollow anyone. I'm not on twitter long enough to get too annoyed by the spam and so I often just pass it up. My profile photo I normally just change when I'm tired of seeing it. lol
