NaNoWriMo 2011 Winner

Woo-hoo! I'm still doing a happy dance even after the NaNoWriMo word verification tool didn't match the word count my word processor - Open Office - told me. In fact, it was over 1100 word difference. I went to verify my win earlier tonight and it came up a few hundred words short. I have over 51300 words written. It was frustrating, but I wrote just over 200 words and it was enough. NaNo told me I wrote -1100 words today, but I still have my win.

I see a few other winners out there. Congratulations to you! The rest of you warriors, keep going. There's still a few days left of the month. Push yourself. You'll be surprised at what you can accomplish. I believe in you.

I hope to finish the novel in a few weeks. Before Christmas at the latest. Then I'll let it sit for a while. I have two other novels I want to go through more revisions and submit before I start any editing with my NaNo novel. Revise, revise, revise. That will be my motto for the next four or more months.

  1. Well done, Christine! I have no idea how you did it with your little one to look after. Hope you meet your target for finishing the novel too.

  4. Congratulations!!

I've heard that Open Office counts quotation marks as words, so that was probably what threw the count off. That's great you were able to squeeze in a bit more writing, and I look forward to reading the rest when you get it written.

I'm off to see how much more in TLP I can finish by Wednesday. :)

  5. C D and Janel, thank you!

Prerna, even 25000 is fantastic! Keep writing!

Cherie, I didn't know that. That's weird it does that. I do wonder if there's a way to make it stop. Thanks for letting me know. Hope you're writing. I want to read it soon!

  10. Congrats, Christine. That is really strange about the word count. I guess I should be grateful. Mine was only off my 15 words. I'd have died if it was 1,100. That's just nuts!

  11. Congrats on the win! I'm worried about the word count thing because there was a 200 word difference between Google Docs and Word. Either way, I'm finishing tonight. I WILL finish tonight.
