Only three more days until the official release of the final book in the 13th Floor series, THE GHOST. I'm excited and anxious, and I'm already thinking about putting together a collection. I haven't found a cover I want for it yet. I might not have it ready to reveal after THE GHOST blog tour. It has to be perfect, though. I'm not going to settle for anything less than what blows me away.
Along with all the novellas, I'm going to include a short story in the collection. Originally, I was going to write about how Kiral came to live on the 13th floor. Yet the story isn't sticking with me as something spectacular. I want to captivate my readers rather than give them a few interesting facts.
Should I do another tenant's? Marc's or Stefanie's? Readers already know how Meira, Harriet, and Chiharo came to be on the 13th floor. I could also do a tenant that lived there in the past. Or even one that's just moving in. Lots of possibilities.
I'm going to let my readers decide. Who do you want to read about? This short story will appear in the 13th Floor collection. (I'm tentatively setting the release date for September 13th.)
Please let me know your choice by answering this poll or leaving a comment below. I'll be running this poll through to the 19th when I'll be announcing the results. (I tried out a new poll widget. Hopefully it works!)
Wow, it coming to an end already. What a year!

Oh, a short story? Fun! It was so hard deciding what to pick for the poll, since all the possibilities are great. Good luck finding the perfect cover!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of these yet, so I might wait until it's a collection. Every time I read a post about this series, I kick myself I haven't done it yet. Although my reading tally for this year stands at a pathetic three books :-(
ReplyDeleteOh this is hard!! All of these options appeal to me! Seriously, you could write a whole short story collection about how past, present and future tenants of the thirteenth floor arrived, and I'd be happy. I think a past or future tenant depends on if you've got anyone/ another supernatural being in mind. If you do, I'd love to see your take on something else. :)
ReplyDeleteChristine, that is a really cool idea!!
ReplyDeletei'm so glad i'm going on vacation - i will have more time to finish your series!!
ReplyDeleteyay for you, Christine!
Very excited for your release...:) I just voted...
ReplyDeleteI voted, even though it's a hard decision because I'm leaning toward two of the choices. I'm sure whichever story is picked it'll be awesome!
ReplyDeleteThat's cool! Love the idea, but I don't know what to say. I agree with Cherie!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the release of The Ghost, and a new short story for the collection is an excellent idea.
ReplyDeleteI've put in my vote!
Such a fun idea! Can't wait to see the collection cover and find out what the short's going to be about.
ReplyDeleteThank you all! It seems so far that readers want to see a new tenant be it in the past or present. Must get my mind churning in that direction!
ReplyDeleteYEAH!!!!
ReplyDeleteMORE!!!!
Look, I love everyone on the 13th Floor (especially Xan) but it would be awesome to see how the tenants and the building treat a newcomer. Maybe a human. Maybe a human that doesn't know they aren't human.
Oh! I can't wait to see what you come up with!
Heather
I voted and I guess I'm with the majority. New tenant moving in got my thumbs up. What is it about that, I wonder?
ReplyDeleteGood luck.
I love the idea of a new tenant moving in. :)
ReplyDeleteHi, Christine. I voted and it looks I'm with the majority of voters.
ReplyDelete: )
Oh what a great idea! I'm having a terrible time deciding, I wish I could vote for all of them. :D
ReplyDeleteBut since Marc is still my favorite of the series I think I will vote to learn about his back story. I just loved The Marquis.
I liked all your characters, but I loved Kiral and Harriet. I think they may deserve a happier story where Harriet is free of her curse. Maybe she's having a vision that helps save the one who cursed her while helping save a human?
ReplyDeleteA visitor from the past was the first thing i thought after finishing reading The Vampire and the oracle.
can't wait to hear what you'll decide on.
