Remakes Blogfest

Most of remakes suck. Big time. And they're making so many of them nowadays! Yet there is that moment when one comes along that is better than the original.

The marvelous hosts of this blogfest, Alex J. Cavanaugh and Heather M. Gardner, want to read about those remakes that don't suck. Be it movies, music, or books. Click HERE to find a linky list of participants and discover some awesome remakes.

I've watched a lot of movies in my years. Many of them horror flicks. I'm much more into the suspense side of the horror genre now, but once upon a time, it's was all about the gore. One of my favorite movies was Sam Raimi's Evil Dead. So when I heard they were remaking it, I refused to see the new one. No way. Bruce Campbell rules!

But I couldn't resist watching a little of the remake...

And then all of it. The 2013 remake was awesome! It didn't try to capture Raimi's quirkiness and the star didn't try to be Bruce Campbell. It stood on its own. It's gory, nightmare level, but it isn't trashy. Highly recommended for horror fans.

What are your favorite remakes?

His self-imposed hands-off Maggie policy is about to be put to the ultimate test when he must keep her close to protect her while he tracks down a ruthless killer.

Blood, Boobs & Carnage Blogfest

This tons of fun blogfest is hosted by two awesome writers, Alex J. Cavanaugh and Heather Gardner.

The details: On May 18, 2015, post about a movie, television show, book, or all three that falls into the category of Blood, Boobs, and Carnage. (Or just Blood and Carnage or other mixture.) It can be any genre that fits the bill – fantasy, science fiction, action, adventure, western, thriller, etc. Post the badge and visit other participants.

Decisions, decisions. I thought long and hard about this post. Do I post about shows everyone knows like Game of Thrones and True Blood or do I go more obscure like Baise Moi or The Human Centipede? (And beware to anyone who dares look up that last one!)

I'm going middle of the road. This film did get a little notoriety, but many of you might not have heard of it. Yet it's stayed with me after all these years.

High Tension (originally Haute Tension released in 2003) is about two college friends, Marie and Alexa, who are visiting Alexa's parents' country home when a serial killer shatters their quiet getaway.

A stylized slasher film with a stunning twist at the end. You've got tons of blood and carnage, and a nod to the boobs. The two actresses playing the leads are awesome. Highly recommended if you're a fan of this genre.

I can't wait to see what bloody, jiggly, and gory posts you have for us today!

Heather M. Gardner's love of books began on the hand-woven rugs of her small town library where her mother worked. There she had a never-ending supply of stories to read at her fingertips. As a teen, her favorite genres to curl up with were romance and mysteries. When she started to create her own stories, they were the perfect fit.

Heather resides in New York with her best friend who is also her husband, plus her talented and handsome son. She is currently owned by four stray cats. Heather's a full-time mom, works part-time from home, a chocolate enthusiast, coffee junkie, cat addict, book hoarder and fluent in sarcasm.
