Blood, Boobs & Carnage Blogfest

This tons of fun blogfest is hosted by two awesome writers, Alex J. Cavanaugh and Heather Gardner.

The details: On May 18, 2015, post about a movie, television show, book, or all three that falls into the category of Blood, Boobs, and Carnage. (Or just Blood and Carnage or other mixture.) It can be any genre that fits the bill – fantasy, science fiction, action, adventure, western, thriller, etc. Post the badge and visit other participants.

Decisions, decisions. I thought long and hard about this post. Do I post about shows everyone knows like Game of Thrones and True Blood or do I go more obscure like Baise Moi or The Human Centipede? (And beware to anyone who dares look up that last one!)

I'm going middle of the road. This film did get a little notoriety, but many of you might not have heard of it. Yet it's stayed with me after all these years.

High Tension (originally Haute Tension released in 2003) is about two college friends, Marie and Alexa, who are visiting Alexa's parents' country home when a serial killer shatters their quiet getaway.

A stylized slasher film with a stunning twist at the end. You've got tons of blood and carnage, and a nod to the boobs. The two actresses playing the leads are awesome. Highly recommended if you're a fan of this genre.

I can't wait to see what bloody, jiggly, and gory posts you have for us today!

  1. Ah, a slasher movie. I haven't seen one of these in years. Sadly, I think I've outgrown them. I was around when the first Nightmare on Elm Street released. Awesome!

  2. Yes, I think many people will choose Game of Thrones. Hadn't heard of this one. Awesome you picked something different.

  3. Haven't seen that one! Yeah, sorry, I went for easy with this one.
Thanks for participating in our blogfest.

  6. I've never heard of this one. I'm glad I've given up on slasher and gore movies. :)

Have a great day and enjoy the blogfest. Eva

  7. I don't usually like slasher films but I do love a twist ending :)

  8. Dolorah, I don't watch too many slasher flicks now myself, but this one stayed in my mind over the years.

Natalie, thanks! I'm a huge Game of Thrones fan.

Alex, this is lots of fun!

    Scots Lass, me too!

Nick, I love it when a film can surprise me!

Eva, I don't watch as many as I used to anymore. But once in a great while, it's fun!

    Sarah, me too!

  9. The Human Centipede...that sounds ominous. Haven't heard of the one you selected but the better half loves slasher films. Our first movie was Texas Chainsaw. Can't remember which one. So romantic ...

  10. I'm not a fan of gore, I usually have to close my eyes and peek through my fingers. Good Choice, Christine!!!

  11. I missed this one. A stylish slasher movie? It was only a matter of time.

  13. Since this is the second post I've seen on this film, it must be memorable. Now I want to know what the twist is.

  15. I've never heard of this movie but since another blog recommended this as well, I've got to check it out.

  16. You're right I haven't heard of this movie. I tend to shy away from the horror genre, especially if it's slasher flick. Those drive me nuts and scare me to death. If it's gonna be a horror film that I watch it needs to be about vampires or werewolves, you know things that aren't real. Serial killers who slice & dice are very much real, so I'd rather keep my dreams peaceful. :D Good teaser review though! Nice to meet you through the BBC blogfest!

  17. TB, it is as ridiculous and ominous as it sounds! And that is a hilarious first date story to tell. :)

    Cathrina and Stephen, thank you!

Chrys, it has such a good twist!

Tamara, I could whisper it to you!

    Jeremy, messed up definitely!

    Huntress, highly recommended!

Cathy, nice to meet you too. :) I like the vampires and werewolves better too!

  22. I also haven't heard of this movie, but it sounds like there's lots of blood, boobs, and carnage. Most movies with college kids and a serial killer involves the unholy triumvirate.

  23. That sounds right up my alley! I've added it to my "To Watch" list.

    Thanks for posting about it.

  24. Wow! Two votes for High Tension. And I haven't even heard of it before. Shows you what I know.

  25. Never heard of this one. Sounds very tense. I like it when I find some new movies to check out.

  26. Don't know this one. There's lots of variety in this blog hop... Haven't seen too many with the same shows.

  27. I went for Mercy Thompson who survives in a world of monsters by her wits and being a coyote shifter! Slasher films were never my genre -- I need a hero to go with my monsters!! :-)

  28. Diane, S.L., and Sherry, it's a new one to a lot of folks today. :)

    Jay, they do!

    J.H., you're welcome.

Ken and Susan, I've seen a few new to me ones today too.

    Bish, and that's fantastic!

Roland, the Mercy series is awesome! I'm a fan of it too. :)

  29. It's cool that we chose the same movie. This was definitely a good one!

  30. I've never heard of this movie but now I'm curious about it.
I cracked up about Human Centipede because I did make the mistake of looking that one up a few years ago and have never recovered LOL.

  31. Sounds like something I must check out. I've been hooked on slashers since Jami Lee let out a few screams in Halloween. wha-ha-ha

  32. I never heard of this one before someone else mentioned it this blog fest.

I did hear about Human Centipede, and it sounds really gross and disturbing.

  33. I thought I'd already been here and then realized someone else had used this film too. Now I'm curious as it sounds interesting.

My wife and I did see Human Centipede. I was really hesitant about us seeing that one, but actually it was fairly well done. It was totally disgusting yet still somewhat intriguing.

  34. I've heard of The Human Centipede, but do NOT feel the need to watch it. LOL. Haven't heard of High Tension, but it sounds intriguing. Great post! :D

  35. I MUST KNOW MORE! I haven't heard of this at all, but it sounds great! I love twists!

THANK YOU for joining Alex and me in this EPIC blogfest!

  37. Jolie, you're welcome! :)

L.G., I thought it was perfect for this blogfest.

Julie, I never recovered either. And did you know they made sequels?!!

Anna, then you'll love this one!

M.R., it truly is. There are just some things you can't unsee no matter how hard you try!

Arlee, curiosity brought me to that movie as well.

    Liesel, smart move!

    Heather, you're welcome! :)

    Beverly, a great slasher film.

  39. I don't believe I've ever heard of that film. I don't really see a lot of modern movies, and prefer my dinosaur tastes of silent and early sound films.

  40. I hadn't heard of it, but it sounds like a bloody bash of fun! :)

    ReplyDelete
  41. It does sound like an awesome movie. Thanks for sharing! :-)

  42. I love the setup for this movie, but I can't quite make myself watch it. I have a feeling there's torture involved somewhere in this movie. I'm not sure why I can even watch Criminal Minds--perhaps because often the torture scenes are kept at a minimum.

  43. This one does look good, although I haven't heard of it before now.

  44. Shah, it's worth it for the twist!

Mary, you'll need at least one beer for this one!

Carrie-Anne, there are some great classic horrors.

Loni, that's a perfect way of putting it!

    Misha, you're welcome.

Stephanie, there's a lot of graphic gory moments. Probably want to avoid it then!

Cherie, I'd hoped to bring something new to folks. :)
