I'll tumble 4 ya Blogfest

I'm definitely a child of the '80's. I still have my Pound Puppy and Cabbage Patch doll. I still own a cassette player. I even have a box of mixed tapes I recorded off the radio. Including ones of the Dr. Demento show.

I was also one of those girls who plastered her walls (and ceiling) with cute teenage heart throbs... and monsters from Fangoria magazine. My favorite movie was The Lost Boys. I watched it daily. I knew every line.

I had a huge crush on Corey Haim.

And Corey Feldman.

In my fantasy world, I could have both Coreys.

It's a very good thing it was only fantasy and I grew out of my Coreys phase. They didn't handle fame very well. Just like another one of my crushes at the time: River Phoenix. Rest in peace, guys. (Yes, I know Feldman didn't die, but his career did!)

  1. Awesome crush... I loved Lost Boys, and I was in love with Keither Sutherland and the vamps with their long, punky hairstyles. Where my vampire love really started. I watched that movie so many times, that my mom ended up calling it the Michael movie, because I'd have it playing really loud, and all mom heard from the other room was Michael's name being called out...hehehe

    1. That's awesome! I grew into liking the vamps, but I wanted to be the hero, so it was the good guys for me. I wanted a husky named Nanook too!

  2. Most kids can't handle fame at an early age...some manage to make their way back.....worthy crushes despite the tragedy.

    1. It's sad. I'm glad to see the newer generation, like the Harry Potter actors, handling it much better.

  3. Oh yes, I remember the Corys. And Pound Puppies! :)

  4. It's such SUCH a shame what happened to the Corey's. Both had brillant careers ahead of them If they made different choices. Nice selection though. :)

    1. Thanks! And it is a shame. They were talented young people.

  5. I loved the Lost Boys, Kiefer Sutherland was my fave there and that was probably the movie that started my ongoing love of vamps. The Coreys were definitely a cautionary tale for young actors, a real shame.
    Great picks! :)

  7. Corey, Corey, and Fangoria monsters - I like it!! Where were girls like you when I was in high school? All the ones I knew thought horror films were disgusting.

    1. I was hiding out in a dark corner of the library reading. I had no one to share my love of horror with back then. Thankfully we have the internet now to find like-minded individuals. :)

  10. Ah, the Coreys - you must've been in heaven w/ Lost Boys. I was, sadly, taken w/ the vampire in that one...but at least the vampire knew how to manage his career a bit better than the boys, eh?

I think I'm having way too much fun on this fest - thank you so much for indulging me. :)

Yes, it's too bad when child stars can't handle their money and fame well.

    1. Oh, tough question. I think I would have chosen Corey Haim as he was the cuter, taller, and seemingly the sweeter one.

  26. Oh, I had forgotten about River Phoenix. He was such a talent, I remember feeling terrible when he died.

  27. I still have a few cassette players around the house as well as hundreds of cassettes that I don't listen to very much. A lot of great music there, but I have a ton of CDs that I don't listen to much either.
The 80s were a fine time for me.

  32. Who didn't have a crush on both Corey's? I was an 80's lady, having grown up through the 70's. But I graduated HS in 1980. Does that count :)

  33. RIP, indeed :( It's so sad what fame does to a person sometimes! But then, you don't have to be famous to end that way, urrgh okay moving onto cheerier subjects! The Coreys were certainly popular in their time.

Speaking of 'downward spirals', I saw Edward Furlong a couple of years ago at a sci-fi/fantasy convention, and he was really unfriendly (and a bit worn-out looking) and clearly just there to get some more money 'cause obviously he's run out.

    1. Wow, Edward Furlong. Still riding out the Terminator fame? I've met a few celebrities at conventions like that. Thankfully there are still some wonderful and nice ones out there that make the convention trek worthwhile.
