Best feeling in the world

My little guy turned 21 months old yesterday.
Soon I'll have a two-year-old!
I'm afraid to blink lest he be gone off to university.

Yesterday, when I was feeling particularly awful, I had a coughing fit.
I was holding my son in one arm and rubbing my head and neck with my free hand.
He gave me a hug and said, "Is okay, mama. I love you."
The first time your child says "I love you" to you uncoached is the best feeling in the world.

  1. Aww! That's just so cute and sweet. :)

Hehe! Is it sad I keep track of my cat Romeo's age by what you say about Brandon's age?

    1. Nah, Romeo is your baby. It will only be sad if you make a cake for his birthday and don't share it with me. ;)

  2. Children will give you the best and the worst feelings in the world, sometimes in the same instant. Don't blink. I promise you it goes all too fast.

    1. So true! It's amazing that such little beings can have such rule over our hearts.

  3. Our little monster, er I mean *boy* is about the same age and when he stops running into things to give us a kiss.... well the day is made :)

    1. I like it that the kisses are now closed mouth. The open mouthed kisses were very wet even though they were affectionate!

  7. My oldest baby is graduated and working and saving for school. How did she get so old? How did I get so old? I must have blinked!

  9. He's adorbs. I know what you mean, though. The Girl starts kindergarten in August, and I'm both freaked out and melancholy at the same time.

    1. I've been told the parents are more anxious when kids start school than the kids. Will it be full day kindergarten? I don't know what I'd do without my son around all day. Actually, yes, I know. I'd write. But you know what I mean! My son will start preschool this August and it's only two mornings a week. I'm anxious about it already.

    1. I definitely did. Nowadays, he's yelling "NERDS!" all the time. My fault for teaching it to him and then laughing when he did it for the first time!
