Wicked Wednesday - holiday reads

It's that wonderful time of year...
where we all hope to grab some quiet reading time amongst the holiday chaos!

I love snuggling under a blanket with a good book when it's cold and dark outside. With so much going on during December, I don't like to delve into any deep reads. I crave omething light and fun with a happily ever after.

I don't usually go searching for holiday themed books, but when I find a good one, it makes me extra happy. Recently I read Mistletoe & Memories by Matilda Maxwell. This is a perfect example of a festive and fun read.

My little guy is really into The Night Before Christmas and The Great Reindeer Rebellion this year. Children's books really get me in the festive mood too.

What are your favorite holiday reads?

  1. Mistletoe & Memories sounds like a cute read! I have a few holiday-themed books on my Kindle right now, but I'm not sure I'll find the time to read them at this point, heh. I plan to at least squeeze in a few Christmassy Archie comics, though! :)

  2. I still need to read Mistletoe & Memories. I have it on my Kindle. I do sometimes read holiday reads, although I prefer Halloween reads during Halloween over Christmas ones. I usually read a lot over Christmas break, though.

  3. When I was younger, I loved the really old-school holiday books, like Lois Lenski's How Christmas Came to Blueberry Corners and Carolyn Haywood's Betsy's Little Star. I'm not sure how they'd hold up for me upon an adult rereading, though.

  4. I don't think I ever read seasonal stories. My daughter has a favorite YA book. I think it's called Holly Claus but I'm not sure.

  5. The Great Reindeer Rebellion? Why have I never heard of that? This must be remedied right away!

  6. I love a good, light read when life is chaotic.

Awesome sale. I will be getting mine!

  7. I'll often re-read Holmes for the Holidays, which is a collection of Sherlock Holmes stories. Fall and winter are also good for things like John Le Carre and Tana French, though those are deeper reads.

  8. The Great Reindeer Rebellion sounds fun. I don't know it. Woo hoo for Fantasy Uprising!

  9. The Great Reindeer Rebellion sounds like a fun kid's read, I'll have to check that one out! I think a lot of the holiday romances & anthologies that come out look good, but usually never get around to buying them.

  10. Thank you, everyone! I hope you all get to check the books out, and now I have a few to look up myself. :)

Cherie, I usually read more horror around Halloween too.

  11. Hey Christine,

Humble apologies for my sporadic commenting over the last four months.

The holiday chaos mostly passes me by. As for a favourite holiday read, I don't really have one. Perhaps your links might give me a nudge :)

I'd like to know why Google has suddenly put on that robot stuff. I know I never asked for it on my site.

All the best, my kind friend.

  12. No Christmas favorites in the book area but definitely in the movie arena. I love to watch "The Christmas Story" every year! Don't shoot your eye out :)
