Hello! Please allow me to re-introduce myself. I'll make it short and sweet. My name is Christine Rains and I'm a geek mom. My son shares his bed with Ernie, Brobee, and Cthulhu. We play Candyland like a role-playing game and frequently turn our couch into a pirate ship. I love to write and read. Hopefully I can help nurture those loves in my son as well.
I'm shy and not terribly exciting, but I love getting to know new and old friends alike. Tell me something about yourself, please.

A couch makes an excellent pirate ship! My oldest son pretends his spoons are spaceships. This might have something to do with the fact that he watches Star Trek with me on a regular basis!

ReplyDeleteHi Christine! Great to re-meet you. Geek moms rock btw. (= The kids and I often turn our living room into one giant tent. We move chairs, sofas and use about a half a dozen large blankets to cover most of the room. It's a blast.

ReplyDeleteI never made Pirate ships, but when I was younger my 2 sisters and I were always making camps out of our sofa and cushions. If I have a kid no doubt I'll be doing exactly the same with them. Nice to meet you :)

ReplyDeleteYou're reputation precedes you. I've seen your 13th floor covers around and thing the stories sound interesting, but you know how it is - so much to do and not enough time. The stuff you and your son do sounds like lots of fun to me.

I remember my sons using the sofa as a ship. When we were little, my brother and I used the bed of my dad's pick up truck for our ship.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if kids today know how much fun it is to play pirate ship on the living room furniture or the art of building forts with several levels. My nephews would rather play video games. Christine you sound like a cool mom.
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you (again) Christine! My sister and I used to use our couch as a diving board. We would jump off it onto an old comforter we pretended was a pool, and would lie on the floor flailing around like we were swimming. I can definitely picture my daughter doing the same kind of thing.

ReplyDeleteSO NICE to visit you again. I must admit it has been a while. I just scrolled through your followers, and I was one of your first twenty or so. Good to be back. Sadly our time is so limited and we lose contact with blogger friends so quickly, that is why this is such an AWESOME blogfest.
Me... heck. Editing first novel AGAIN. Querying second novel and trying to work on my current novella. NO time FOR anything, But I keep plugging along. LOL.

ReplyDeleteHey we play pirate ship too. My three year old has a pretty unrealistic view of the world though because he "swims" over to the deserted island (chair) and brings back pretend hamburgers and french fries. If he's ever stranded on an island he's going to be very upset.

ReplyDeleteSounds like your kids have a great mum to fuel their imagination. We used to walk in between the two couches in our living room on cushion "stones". The floor was hot lava that would kill you if you fell in. But me and my brother pushed each other in all the time!

ReplyDeleteSounds like you have lots of fun with your kids, Christine! When mine were young, I would make imaginative creations out of cardboard boxes and set them up in the living room of verandah and we would spend hours playing together.
